Dog Birthday Cake

This easy birthday cake is perfect to treat your dog on their special day. Filled with fruits and vegetables, this cake is dog-safe and healthy as possible. My dog loved this cake and enjoyed every last bite!

Ingredients
  

Cake

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (NOT avocado) 15 g
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter 80 g
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree or applesauce 113 g
  • 1 cup flour 120 g
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda 3 g
  • 1/2 cup carrots, shredded 50 g

Frosting

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt 113 g
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter 60 g
  • dog treats, optional
  • peanut butter, optional

Instructions
 

Cake

  • Prepare a 6-inch cake pan. Preheat the oven to 350º F.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, peanut butter, and pumpkin puree/applesauce. Add the flour, baking soda, and shredded carrots. Mix until a smooth batter forms.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan. Bake the cake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted.
  • Let the cake cool and remove it from the baking pan. Cut the cake in half horizontally and let it chill in the refrigerator.

Frosting

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt and peanut butter. Spread the frosting in between the cake layers and pipe it on top. Add dog treats and extra peanut butter for decoration, as desired.

Notes

  • Be sure not to use avocado oil in this recipe! It can be poisonous to dogs.
